The Mississippi State mascot's name is Bully. The first Bully was a white bulldog named Ptolemy, who served as the mascot from 1935-1939. Since then, there have been several other Bulldogs who have taken on the role of Bully, each with their own unique personality and traits. Today's Bully is a live mascot named Jak, who attends all home football games and several other athletic events throughout the year. Mississippi State's use of the Bulldog as its mascot dates back to the early 1900s, when the university's sports teams were first referred to as the Bulldogs.
